GD!
Great and Glorious GD,
Glow at the heart of every candle,
Gift behind evergreen fronds,
Gently weaving wonder – GD!
No face, no form,
No word can frame You;
You are the Breath between syllables,
The silence after laughter – GD.
Chrismukkah rises – its welcome wide:
Lights from menorahs and twinkling trees –
Miracles retold,
Hope made manifest
While families gather,
Stories mingle,
Songs and suppers shared.
Yet this festival stretches further still –
A tapestry of hearts,
Threads of faith and no-faith –
For Diwali’s lamps glimmer,
Eid’s crescent ascends,
Solstice fires flicker,
Ramadan’s moon waxes and wanes.
GD says:
“My house has many doors.
Every knock is Love returning;
No one arrives as stranger,
No prayer is foreign to My ear.”
Let us not close gates for
Creed or doubt,
Instead, let our hearths burn larger.
No sword, no slight,
Not bigotry nor boasting:
These are not My ways.
I am GD of Peace.
Let all who claim My name
Know this above all.
GD whispers:
“Bring your joy, your wonder,
Your questions, your songs –
Every seeking spirit belongs.
Let Chrismukkah’s warmth
Be a welcoming fire
Where all are kin
And caring is the creed.”
For GD’s embrace is wide –
Wider than doctrine,
Deeper than ritual,
Vaster than ancient quarrels –
A sacred season,
Open table,
Every heart invited.
Merry Christmas,
Happy Hanukkah,
Joyous Eid,
Bright Diwali,
Blessed Solstice,
Love for all,
For all are cherished by GD.
To the revellers and the quiet,
To the devout and the doubtful,
To the curious, the hopeful,
Let luminous Chrismukkah
Be a living panegyric –
A festival ever-expanding,
A holy hospitality
From GD, through us, to all.
GD! Goodness, Grace, and Gathering –
Let our festival be Peace.
Let us kindle candles of kindness,
Hang ornaments of inclusion,
Share songs of unity.
In GD’s name –
Let every soul find
Light, belonging, love.
